Quote(s) of the Day: "That was another one on the swing"!

Fishing Highlights:

Joe and Si were met with a flow of 916 for there first trip up this season. Despite the high flow Joe walked right in a soft pocket and landed his first fish of the year. It didn't stop there his second, third. You get my point, the fishing was great from start to finish today. We were fishing a nymph rig all morning.Si went down river a little bit and put his first in the net as well. After lunch Si went to a dry dropper rig. While Joe continued his furious pace.Si started to hit fish on the dropper patterns on a regular basis. The hits are very subtle. The fish are stacked up in the soft water along the trees. Joe finished one cutthroat short of a grand slam. It was another great day to be out on the water. Thank you Joe and Si for a fun time today.

Be careful out there! Here comes the water, even most tail water streams outside of Denver are running dangerously high! Wading is difficult but the fishing is still good. A wading staff may be of use during this high water season. South Boulder Creek at Lincoln Hills Fly Fishing Club has been flowing high but deep nymphing rigs using San Juan Worms, Twenty Incher Stones, Girdle Bugs are still producing trophy fish. To better your odds of hooking trout try nymph fishing with a three fly rig. Here comes the water for Denver! Lots of water is coming down from the mountains! Fast current, off color water and lots of debris makes seeing your indicator difficult.  Try using a large Thin-a-ma-bobber in a bright color. The large size will keep your flies suspended and the bright color such as orange or red should be easy to see in the raging river! Remember the fish are holding deep, to fish effectively cover the water thoroughly. Make sure you are snagging bottom every five casts or so, this will ensure that your flies are getting down deep to the fish. Dry flies and droppers are the way to go! Work the water in between major runs and riffles, sometimes the odd pocket will produce a trophy fish. The fish are looking fat and healthy! Many nice fish in the 16-22” range have been hooked! This is your best shot at a World- Class trout fishing experience close to Denver.  The fishing is great.  Partly Cloudy skies and 48-51 degree weather. The water temperature was between 40-43 degrees and Slightly Off.
