Fishing Highlights:

We had great weather greet us today up on the property and hungry fish to start the day. John, Evan, and Ryan started the day off on a standard nymph rig and were catching fish right away. We worked the bottom runs of Tunnel beat which produce the best results for the morning hours with everyone catching multiple fish. Ryan managed to land a couple of 20"ers in the first 20 drifts of the morning which was a warm greeting from the river as it was his first time here. As we worked up the river Evan picked off a couple more trout out of beach run. After a great lunch we changed tactics as the fish were suspended in the water column looking towards the surface. Ryan put a hurtin' on fish down in Opals going fish after fish for quite some time including a 24" rainbow on a size 22 juju bee emerger. Evan managed a couple of fish on the dry dropper rig and then went to a European style rig for the rest of the afternoon. Thanks for a great day fellas!

This is some of the best fly fishing in Colorado! Good hatches of Midges and Blue Winged Olives are prevalent.  For best results start nymphing with small imitations using hook sizes 18-22.  Concentrate your efforts on the biggest and deepest holes in the river.  Look for fish holding anywhere there is structure especially eddies and log jams. We are catching some of the biggest rainbow trout of the year! To better your odds of hooking trout try nymph fishing with a three fly rig. To fish effectively find the bottom of the river and then fish up. Remember the fish are holding deep, to fish effectively cover the water thoroughly. Make sure you are snagging bottom every five casts or so, this will ensure that your flies are getting down deep to the fish. The river is looking superb another great summer of fishing is just around the corner.  The fishing is great.  Clear skies and 60+ degree weather. The water temperature was between 40-43 degrees and Crystal Clear.
