Quote(s) of the Day: That fish did not even think about coming back up river!

Fishing Highlights:

Today I got to spend the day with Geoff and his grandson Keaton, who by the way is now a senior in college! The first time I took him was when he was eight years old. The day was great from the get go. Geoff spotted Keaton a four fish lead. Keaton quickly made up ground with a few nice fish of his own. He hooked a pig that took off before we were able to get him in the net. The morning fished great with dry dropper rigs. The fish were eating great this morning. It has usually been slower in the am.Fish were eating the dry as well as the dropper. The afternoon stayed hot for us as well. Using pretty much the same set up. The only difference was the bugs got a little bigger. Great to be out with the both of them again. Keaton it was great to see you again and good luck with your final year of school. Hope to see you soon.

Lots of insects are on the water! This is some of the best fly fishing close to Denver right now. We are seeing regular hatches of Pale Morning Duns, Gray and Green Drakes, Mahogany Duns, Caddis, Yellow Sallies, and Golden Stones.  Dry flies and droppers are the way to go! The fish are looking fat and healthy! Many nice fish in the 16-22” range have been hooked! This is your best shot at a World- Class trout fishing experience close to Denver. It is one hot summer on the river! Time to put the waders away and bust out the gravel guards and wet wading sandals.  Try an Amy’s Ant (size 10-12) or California Blonde (size 10-16) to fool hopper eating fish.  The fishing is great.  Clear skies and 56-59 degree weather. The water temperature was between 52-55 degrees and Crystal Clear.
