Quote(s) of the Day: Why didn't the fish eat that?

Fishing Highlights:

This was Hudson's first time with dad by themselves. Hudson asked where are the fish in the first two drifts. I knew we had to hook some fish pretty quick. We did some practice and went over the instructions first thing. He landed his first of the day about fifteen minutes later. A big fat rainbow. As a lot of my clients, he was wondering why the fish didn't hit on every cast. He is on his way to being a good fly fisherman. John hooked and landed some nice fish on a dry dropper rig. The droppers are getting smaller and smaller. We were using size 20 and 22's midge and beatis patterns. Hudson and I went down to a secret hole so he could take the lead on the fish count from dad. A nice rainbow and brown were there to great us. We also got caught up on some good rock and stick throwing .Hudson was a true gentleman on the river and soon to be a great fisherman. Thanks to the both of you for a great day on the water.

Dry flies and droppers are the way to go! It summer at Lincoln Hills, the big fish are on the feed and many big fish in the 4-6 pound class have been hooked and our fly fishing trips have been fantastic. Work the water in between major runs and riffles, sometimes the odd pocket will produce a trophy fish. The fish are looking fat and healthy! Many nice fish in the 16-22” range have been hooked! This is your best shot at a World- Class trout fishing experience close to Denver. It is one hot summer on the river! Time to put the waders away and bust out the gravel guards and wet wading sandals.   The fishing is good.  Partly Cloudy skies and 56-59 degree weather. The water temperature was between 52-55 degrees and Crystal Clear.
