Quote(s) of the Day: “Watching the fish come up and eat the dry fly is so cool!”
Do trout usually fight on the line for this long??

Fishing Highlights:

The morning hours made us work for fish today. They weren’t moving around very much and no insect life was hatching get them in motion. Kelly did get a great strike and capitalized on it putting a little rainbow in the net. After lunch the fishing picked up a lot. We started the afternoon with nymph rigs but quickly switched to double dries as the fish were readily eating adult flies. First cast and bam. Matt was hooked up on his wife’s grandfathers old 8 weight rod. Morgan caught quite a few fish off the surface as well. It was a nice change over from the morning hours seeeing the fish actively feeding! The fishing was very technical in the morning. Trout were feeding on size#22 red zebra midges and the takes were extremely subtle. That makes for challenging conditions. But Will, Marie and Morgan were all up for the challenge! Will did most of his damage on a nymph rig while Morgan and Marie caught their trout on Hopper-Dropper rigs. Trout are starting to become leader shy so 4x fluorocarbon tippet is definitely recommended.

The fishing is good.  Overcast skies and 60+ degree weather. The water temperature was between 56-59 degrees and Crystal Clear.
