Quote(s) of the Day: Could not ask for a better day! Water was coming down, fish were feeding & the weather was great!

Fishing Highlights:

I met up with John, Evan & Chris at Rollinsville around 9AM on a beautiful Friday morning. John and Evan being members down at the club, decided they wanted to explore some new water. South Boulder Creek is a very diverse stream with meandering valleys, tight canyons & beautiful runs/riffles all around. The river was dropping as the day went on but we were fishing mainly at a flow of 175cfs. With water this high and fishing on a creek that acts like a freestone, we did what you got to do.. cover lots of water! it did not take long for all three to get hooked on fish. By lunch we were at about 20 fish in the net which were mainly brooks and browns. After a delicious lunch and some downtime, we headed down stream to cross and work our way back up the other side of the creek. Afternoon was slow to start but we got back on the game pretty quick. It was a pleasure fishing with you guys and i hope to see you around soon! TIght Lines!

Hopper and dropper combos are the most productive way to fish right now. A guide favorite has been a hopper pattern like a California Blonde in size 10 to 12 trailed by a bead head caddis in size 16. A three fly dry fly rig can help provoke the trout to rise to your flies! Trout are feeding aggressively mid-morning in the shallow riffles.  The fishing is great.  Clear skies and 60+ degree weather. The water temperature was between 44-47 degrees and Slightly Off.
