Quote(s) of the Day: That fish went right up the waterfall!

Fishing Highlights:

Today was a little odd. I don't mean that in a bad way, the fishing was great. The fish started out eating dry dropper rigs early and then ate the nymph rigs late. The weather was cloudy with hail and rain before lunch. Brian started off with fish coming up for the dry in the first several cast. Charlie took his first couple on the droppers. After lunch the fish seemed to want the nymph rigs a little more. With the exception of Charlie taking five or six with the dry in the shallow water. Late in the afternoon the fish went nuts with Brian and Charlie hooked up constantly. I would unhook one fish, and then the other would be hooked up. I am guessing it was that Texas magic working for them! This was the first time I got to fish with Brian and Charlie. I hope it is not the last. Thanks to the both of you for a fun time on the water today. I hope to see yall soon.

To better your odds of hooking trout try nymph fishing with a three fly rig. To fish effectively find the bottom of the river and then fish up. Make sure you are snagging bottom every five casts or so, this will ensure that your flies are getting down deep to the fish. The water is beginning to come down and clear up. It summer at Lincoln Hills, the big fish are on the feed and many big fish in the 4-6 pound class have been hooked and our fly fishing trips have been fantastic. Work the water in between major runs and riffles, sometimes the odd pocket will produce a trophy fish. The fish are looking fat and healthy! Many nice fish in the 16-22” range have been hooked! The big fish are on the feed! Anglers are reporting hooking numerous brown and rainbow trout in the 5-10 pound range. This is your best shot at a World- Class trout fishing experience close to Denver. Try an Amy’s Ant (size 10-12) or California Blonde (size 10-16) to fool hopper eating fish.  The fishing is great.  Overcast skies and 52-55 degree weather. The water temperature was between 44-47 degrees and Crystal Clear.
