Quote(s) of the Day: I cannot believe that fish did not sprint to the fast water!

Fishing Highlights:

The water showed a little downward trend overnight. When we started this morning it was 638 cfs.We had a little bump up in the later part of the morning. After that it was steadily dropping .When we called it a day it was 497. Susan walked in the river this morning and was met by a nice and polite rainbow that went twenty five inches. It stayed in the slow water for us so we could quickly get him in the net. We fished a nymph and dry dropper this morning .Both were very productive. It still all depends on the slow seems. In the afternoon Bill took a nice fish on the nymph rig. After that the dry dropper seemed to work the best. It was a great day to be out on the water with Bill and Susan again. Hope to see you soon.

Be careful out there! Here comes the water, even most tail water streams outside of Denver are running dangerously high! Wading is difficult but the fishing is still good. To better your odds of hooking trout try nymph fishing with a three fly rig. Lots of water is coming down from the mountains! Fast current, off color water and lots of debris makes seeing your indicator difficult.  Try using a large Thin-a-ma-bobber in a bright color. The large size will keep your flies suspended and the bright color such as orange or red should be easy to see in the raging river!  The fishing is good.  Clear skies and 60+ degree weather. The water temperature was between 40-43 degrees and Slightly Off.
