Quote(s) of the Day: "Add a weight, add a fish"!

Fishing Highlights:

With the flows fluctuating at night between 1000 and 1300,I did not think we would be out of the waders for a while. I was wrong both Allen and myself put on the wet wading socks for the first time this year. While the sun was out it was amazing. After lunch not so much, back to the waders. Allen started the day off with a dry dropper rig and was hooked up right away with fish taking the droppers. We then switched to a nymph rig after it slowed for a couple of minutes and hooked lots of fish on that rig as well. Allen hooked and landed a nice twenty six inch rainbow. After lunch the clouds and rain moved in.It slowed just a tad for a while but stayed hooked up pretty consistent. Allen once again landing big rainbow that was around twenty six inches as well. It was a great time to be able to fish with Allen in more ways than one. Always enjoy the fishing, but just as much I enjoy the conversations. See you soon brother.

This is some of the best fly fishing in Colorado! Switch to dries and emergers when you see fish suspended just below the surface or actively rising. With the water running fast the fish are clinging to the bottom so be sure and bring lots of split shot and heavily weighted flies. Fly fishing is good but the water is cold! Be sure and bring a quality pair of waist high waders and studded boots! We are catching some of the biggest rainbow trout of the year! Be careful out there! Here comes the water, even most tail water streams outside of Denver are running dangerously high! Wading is difficult but the fishing is still good. Here comes the water for Denver! To fish effectively find the bottom of the river and then fish up. Make sure you are snagging bottom every five casts or so, this will ensure that your flies are getting down deep to the fish.  The fishing is great.  Partly Cloudy skies and 56-59 degree weather. The water temperature was between 40-43 degrees and Off-Color.
