Quote(s) of the Day: "OH, that big one came up twice to eat the dry fly."
"I got another fish!" "Maybe I'll try tying on an egg..."

Fishing Highlights:

Today was another one of those special days. Geoff Race and his family came up for a great day. I have fished with them for many years. His grandson Kael was 7 years old the first time. He just graduated college. Keaton who was just as young, is a junior in college. I had the chance to fish with their mom and dad and aunt Kim as well. Lisa hooked and landed a beautiful cutthroat that went around twenty inches. Kit stayed steady with fish on the dry fly. Kim went into the zone for a while hooking fish after fish including a twenty one inch rainbow. The fishing was good the company was great. It was just a fun day to be out with this great group. Thanks for a wonderful time today. It started to sprinkle before lunch and Keaton kept hooking fish after fish, he caught a lot of beautiful rainbows in the afternoon too! Geoff caught a beautiful large rainbow trout in the afternoon on a submerged dry fly, quite the battle with that fish to get him to net. Kael was making his last few casts at the end of the day and hooked into a big brown...definitely worth the wait for that fish! Great day on water with these guys!

After a whole season of pressure the fish are getting spooky. Stealth is the name of the game so walk softly and keep a low profile. The lower flows and clear water means it’s time for smaller flies, longer leaders, and lighter tippets.  Make sure to not expose yourself too much in an effort to avoid spooking fish. Dry and dropper rigs are fooling a lot of fish. The water is low and clear, dry dropper set ups have been consistently producing.  The fish are beginning to stack up. Concentrate your efforts on the river’s riffles and deep long holes. The water is looking good and is flowing low and clear. With the nice weather there is still ample opportunity for good days on the water. The sight fishing has been great.  The fishing is good.  Clear skies and 56-59 degree weather. The water temperature was between 44-47 degrees and Crystal Clear.
