Quote(s) of the Day: It really is amazing the average size of these fish - and they fight so hard!

Fishing Highlights:

What a perfect day fishing with Tim. We had the whole ranch to ourselves, sunny around 65 and no wind - couldn't have been more ideal. The fish were hot to trot right off the bat, lightly taking small chocolate midge emergers and tricos. The upper stretches of the Lincoln Hills beat produced over a dozen fish for us in an hour, ranging from juvenile sporty rainbows to adult brutes, head shaking thugs. Sight fishing was tough in the morning with the late fall glare, but we still managed to pick up many fish in the likely, deep runs. Tim nailed a really nice 21" bow just before lunch on a down and across streamer presentation - if they didn't like the techy flies, we threw some meat and it prompted the most aggressive fish to chase. Post lunch was downright hot with direct low angled sun, however sight fishing was fantastic. Fish were selective but willing. We worked a big girl at the top of Placer beat for over and hour and finally got her just before 4pm. Honestly epic man! Thank you!

Do yourself a favor and get to Colorado’s mountains! The leaves are changing, the elk are bugling, and big brown trout are on the move! After a whole season of pressure the fish are getting spooky. Stealth is the name of the game so walk softly and keep a low profile. The lower flows and clear water means it’s time for smaller flies, longer leaders, and lighter tippets.  Dry and dropper rigs are fooling a lot of fish. The fish are beginning to stack up. Concentrate your efforts on the river’s riffles and deep long holes. The water is looking good and is flowing low and clear. With the nice weather there is still ample opportunity for good days on the water. The sight fishing has been great.  The fishing is fantastic.  Clear skies and 60+ degree weather. The water temperature was between 44-47 degrees and Crystal Clear.
