Quote(s) of the Day: "I want that cutthroat"!

Fishing Highlights:

The flows came down 20 cfs overnight. It was cold and windy early this morning. Not the ideal conditions you want to have to start your trip. Rick put all the worries behind in about ten minutes. Hooking and landing his first fish. He had to think about if it was worth getting his hands wet early on. Then a couple of minute later his hands were wet taking a picture with a nice rainbow. Taylor moved down river and took her first couple of fish on a dry dropper rig. She hooked a large rainbow that went up and the down river and across to a rock and dislodging the hook. Rick stayed hooked up all morning. In the afternoon the wind dyed down and the sun was out. We fished dry droppers the rest of the day. Taylor had several nice fish take the dry. Rick had a twenty inch rainbow take a dry as well. Dry fly fishing in October gotta love it. Turned out to be a incredible day. Thanks to the both of you for a fun time on the water today. Hope to see you soon.

Do yourself a favor and get to Colorado’s mountains! The leaves are changing, the elk are bugling, and big brown trout are on the move! After a whole season of pressure the fish are getting spooky. Stealth is the name of the game so walk softly and keep a low profile. The lower flows and clear water means it’s time for smaller flies, longer leaders, and lighter tippets.  Make sure to not expose yourself too much in an effort to avoid spooking fish. The browns are beginning to spawn. Please watch out for spawning beds so we can be sure to have a successful hatch! Dry and dropper rigs are fooling a lot of fish. Bundle up its cold out there! The days are getting shorter and fish are going into winter feeding habits. For best results plan on getting on the water around 10 am. Usually the bite is good until 2-3 pm.  The fish are beginning to stack up. Concentrate your efforts on the river’s riffles and deep long holes. The water is looking good and is flowing low and clear. The water is getting low and the weather is getting cooler every day, better make one last voyage to the water! Only a few weeks left to catch!  The fishing is great.  Clear skies and 52-55 degree weather. The water temperature was between 40-43 degrees and Crystal Clear.
