Quote(s) of the Day: "Lets make a call to the bullpen for the dry dropper rig"!

Fishing Highlights:

I had the opportunity today to fish with Geoff one on one. We started off with the dry dropper rig. It took a little while and some sun on the water to get the fish moving. Once he hooked and landed his first we were off and running. We would catch a couple out of each hole and move on. We would usually start with a dry and if we felt it was not getting down in time we would go to the nymph. One or both worked every time. Right before lunch we spotted a rainbow on the far side that he made a few drifts to. The fish took it and started his fight about then we realized that the fish was much bigger than it looked in the water. After a short battle and some misses with the net he finally put him in the bottom of the net. It went about twenty one inches and four to five pounds. After lunch we started off with a nymph rig. Geoff put his biggest of the day in the net as well. A twenty four inch rainbow. It fished great all afternoon until the weather moved in and chased us off the water.

The lower flows and clear water means it’s time for smaller flies, longer leaders, and lighter tippets.  Make sure to not expose yourself too much in an effort to avoid spooking fish. Dry and dropper rigs are fooling a lot of fish. The fish are beginning to stack up. Concentrate your efforts on the river’s riffles and deep long holes. The water is looking good and is flowing low and clear. With the nice weather there is still ample opportunity for good days on the water. The sight fishing has been great.  The fishing is great.  Partly Cloudy skies and 52-55 degree weather. The water temperature was between 44-47 degrees and Crystal Clear.
