Fishing Highlights:

The bugs were slow to start this morning. The midges did make a appearance this morning. We started off in a deeper run early. After a short instruction with Dave he was off and running. He was just starting to get the hang of casting and making good drifts. His first fish that he hooked just happened to be a twenty three inch rainbow that was hot. He held the fish tight and when it ran he let it run. After a couple of tense moments he put it in the bottom of the net. Nice job Dave! John went up river a little and took his first ever fish on a dry fly. We moved up once again and spotted a giant rainbow. John went to a nymph rig and made cast after cast over him. Finally the fish took it and went down and then up jumping before finally spitting the hook. John actually hooked four fish through out the day that were in the mid twenties. Not a bad day for your first time. Alan picked his spots and would pull out a fish in each of them. Thanks to everyone for a amazing time on the water .

Lots of insects are on the water! This is some of the best fly fishing close to Denver right now. We are seeing regular hatches of Pale Morning Duns, Gray and Green Drakes, Mahogany Duns, Caddis, Yellow Sallies, and Golden Stones.  Dry flies and droppers are the way to go! Work the water in between major runs and riffles, sometimes the odd pocket will produce a trophy fish. The fish are looking fat and healthy! Many nice fish in the 16-22” range have been hooked! This is your best shot at a World- Class trout fishing experience close to Denver.  The fishing is great.  Partly Cloudy skies and 60+ degree weather. The water temperature was between 52-55 degrees and Crystal Clear.
