Quote(s) of the Day: That was a lot of fun! Do you think we can do that again?
"Oh my that was a HUGE rainbow".
This place is so crazy beautiful, I could stand here all day and I'd be happy.
I am so appreciative that we were able to come down here and fish this section of the river. I've learned so much!
What a great day at Lincoln Hills!
Some ate their Wheaties this morning!

Fishing Highlights:

I fished with Gary today and we had a great time. Our morning was a little slow as the water was cold and had come up. The fish were stuck at the bottom and not feeding on anything. We threw big, small, mid-sized, pretty much the kitchen sink at them. But around 11:30 when the water warmed up and we started to see some bug activity on the water the fish woke up to and started to eat. Gary started picking fish up on the swing with some soft hackles and small BWO patterns trailing. After lunch we started out with the same set up and Gary hooked into several fish in the first hole. After they turned off of that setup we switched to a single dry fly and started hunting rising heads. We found and few and Gary made some amazing casts that got the fish to eat. We used the technique until it was time to head home. It was a gorgeous day on the river and you could feel the hint of fall in the air. The day was sunny and the river looked inviting. Scooter fished hard and was rewarded with a Colorado grand -slam. Netting a brown, rainbow, cutthroat and a brookie. This is not an easy task. we had an arsenal of fly fishing rods; a dry fly, a hopper/dropper, a nymph and a tandem streamer. we caught trout on 3 out of the 4 rigged rods. Scooter stung several large trout with the dry fly rig.It was a great time fishing with Mark and Greg over the weekend, we started by wading through the turbid waters of Boulder River Ranch and fishing dry droppers to willing trout on the banks, which worked like magic. Find the sub prime side pockets is gold right now. Greg hooked a monster in upper BRR that will leave me dreaming for months I'm sure. Must have been ten pounds. In the afternoon we migrated down to Railroad beat - this was a really great place to spend the afternoon because PMDs and yellow sallies were popping like there's no tomorrow. The boys absolutely crushed fish in shallow riffles fishing a dry dropper - I tell you a dry with a soft hackle is all you need. It was super sweet to see Mark and Greg learn the specifics of high stick / mend technique. Tons of big fish in the net today! Overall - what a fun couple of days dudes! Even though we never landed it, Bob hooked and fought the same 10lb fish on two separate occasions. Once on a dry dropper rig and another time on a huge articulated streamer. Our hearts broke at the same time 0X leader did but it was an amazing experience nonetheless. What a beautiful day to be up at Lincoln Hills. I fished with Dan and Chuck today and we had a blast. The fish were a little tricky today, but we spent time working as much water as we could with dry droppers and nymph rigs. After putting in some work, we got ourselves in to some beautiful fish! Great day guys! This was the second day that I had the privilege to share with Luke and Rich! Today was all about catching some fish. After a full day of instruction for Luke on day one I was confident that he would get the job done today. Rich again went on his own catching fish all day long. Luke did not disappoint, landing over 15 fish and only losing a few. The weather held out today which made for a glorious afternoon with wonderful people!

The fishing is great.  Clear skies and 60+ degree weather. The water temperature was between 52-55 degrees and Crystal Clear.
