Quote(s) of the Day: "OHHHH set it. ahh darn! You poked that big fish for just a second!"

Fishing Highlights:

South Boulder creek is down and fish are happy. Wendy and Ruth joined me for a day on Lincoln Hills Property today. The fish were lazy for the first couple of hours but fishing picked up right around 11AM. There were a lot of insects that came off mid morning which got fish moving and actively feeding. Wendy was the first to put fish on the board and continued to catch fish. Ruth was working on getting better on the fundamentals and she progressed nicely. After lunch we went back out and were right back into fish. We saw drakes, PMD's, Mahogany Dunns, tricos, and yellow sallies popping in the afternoon. We got our sight on a large fish in a riffle feeding and seemed like every drift we put to that fish we caught a different fish. Not a bad thing! Wendy did end up hooking up to that large rainbow but she quickly shook the hook! Thanks for another great day girls and hope to see you down the road!

Lots of insects are on the water! This is some of the best fly fishing close to Denver right now. We are seeing regular hatches of Pale Morning Duns, Gray and Green Drakes, Mahogany Duns, Caddis, Yellow Sallies, and Golden Stones.  The evening hatch has been something you just don’t want to miss. Dry flies and droppers are the way to go! It summer at Lincoln Hills, the big fish are on the feed and many big fish in the 4-6 pound class have been hooked and our fly fishing trips have been fantastic. Work the water in between major runs and riffles, sometimes the odd pocket will produce a trophy fish. The fish are looking fat and healthy! Many nice fish in the 16-22” range have been hooked! The big fish are on the feed! Anglers are reporting hooking numerous brown and rainbow trout in the 5-10 pound range. This is your best shot at a World- Class trout fishing experience close to Denver. Try an Amy’s Ant (size 10-12) or California Blonde (size 10-16) to fool hopper eating fish.  The fishing is great.  Clear skies and 60+ degree weather. The water temperature was between 56-59 degrees and Crystal Clear.
