Quote(s) of the Day: “This is the best day we’ve had since we first started coming here!”
I keep catching fish this easy and I will for sure be coming back
Colin was amazing. HE landed a Rainbow, Cutbow, Cutthroat and a Brown Trout! Not bad for a first time fly fisherman.

Fishing Highlights:

What a day today! The fishing is turning on folks. Kyle and Dave joined me for a day of fly fishing today. It was not their first time so they knew what it was like but I think today was a pleasant surprise. Right off the bat Kyle and Dave were into fish. And big fish to boot! The highlight of the morning was watching Dave go to battle with a huge female rainbow. She ended up taking us about 250 yards down stream before she popped the hook. Bummer. After a great lunch we went back out for a short afternoon session. Kyle and Dave said “That was a fantastic morning of fishing. I don’t think it can get much better than that!” Well it did! Dave was smacking fish after fish and Kyle was doing the same thing. When Dave left I tied in a triple dry onto kyles rig and left the dry dropper attached to my lanyard and ended up catching a fish while it was dangling at my knees. Soo crazy. Thanks for an awesome day guys. It was a beautiful day up here at Lincoln Hills and the fishing was awesome! We had some epic bug hatches and the fish were eating on top almost all day long. Matt was new to the fly fishing game, so we discussed casting, hook sets, landing a fish and bug selection. Matt's first fish to the net was a nice little brown trout that ate the fly on the swing. This started the day off and we caught fish after fish. Alex has been fishing with us several times and knows how it can go at Lincoln Hills. His first fish came on his first cast, and that set the tone for Alex. Right after lunch I let Alex use my glass rod and throw a few casts with it. Every time I looked over he had a huge bend in the rod and a smile on his face. The fishing was amazing with the fish eating everything from Drakes, to stone flies and PMDs. It was an amazing day on Lincoln Hills.Colin was patient far beyond his years. Colin netted over a dozen fish on his first day fly fishing. An amazing first day for sure.

Lots of insects are on the water! This is some of the best fly fishing close to Denver right now. We are seeing regular hatches of Pale Morning Duns, Gray and Green Drakes, Mahogany Duns, Caddis, Yellow Sallies, and Golden Stones.  Dry flies and droppers are the way to go! Work the water in between major runs and riffles, sometimes the odd pocket will produce a trophy fish. Look for the caddis to start popping in the afternoon. This is your best shot at a World- Class trout fishing experience close to Denver. It is one hot summer on the river! Time to put the waders away and bust out the gravel guards and wet wading sandals.   The fishing is great.  Partly Cloudy skies and 60+ degree weather. The water temperature was between 52-55 degrees and Crystal Clear.
