Quote(s) of the Day: That fish is as long as my arm!!

Fishing Highlights:

The river's flow was very low around 30cfs. This had the fish very spooky and edgy, requiring longer casts and a stealthy approach to get the eats. We worked on casting and it was rewarding for me to see the progress in the casting, getting 30 foot casts with a great controlled loop. I love seeing my clients fishing ability grow and improve through the day! As the casting got better we hooked into more and more fish and good thing the fish fighting skill level was improving at the same time and the last hole of the day we found a true Lincoln Hills monster holding in some deep water. We switched over to the nymph rod and after changing flies about 20 times we found what it was looking for and after a great fight we landed the best fish of the day.

After a whole season of pressure the fish are getting spooky. Stealth is the name of the game so walk softly and keep a low profile. The lower flows and clear water means it’s time for smaller flies, longer leaders, and lighter tippets.  Make sure to not expose yourself too much in an effort to avoid spooking fish. The browns are beginning to spawn. Please watch out for spawning beds so we can be sure to have a successful hatch! Dry and dropper rigs are fooling a lot of fish. The water is low and clear, dry dropper set ups have been consistently producing.  The water is looking good and is flowing low and clear. The sight fishing has been great. The water is getting low and the weather is getting cooler every day, better make one last voyage to the water! Only a few weeks left to catch!  The fishing is great.  Overcast skies and 19- degree weather. The water temperature was between 56-59 degrees and Crystal Clear.
